In the heart of the historic center of traditional fisherman’s village Marseillan you will find Casa Thau. A cosy house for two with a roof terrace to enjoy the Mediterranean sun. Bakery, shops and restaurants are within walking distance. As well as the harbour of the Etang de Thau where you will find our sailing boat which is available for you to use during your stay. It’s is only a 15 min drive to the beaches and the Mediterranean Sea. Enjoy the South of France!
In one of the narrow streets with the colorful houses that characterize the old center of Marseillan you will find Casa Thau. The small city is known for its cozy center and harbor with many restaurants. It is famous for its delicious oysters that you can also eat at the local oyster farmers while overlooking the Etang de Thau (Wow!). It is also the hometown of Noilly Prat whose cellar is worth a visit. As well as the many other wine domains in and around Marseillan. Don’t miss out on the Tuesday market and the brocante market at the weekends.
With it’s 60M2 Casa Thau is a perfect place for two. Although renovated in 2023, we kept the authentic characteristics: The spiral staircase that circles through the house, wooden beams, the stone wall and ‘tommettes’ in the bedroom as well as the old wooden doors. Let’s make a little tour through the house: First you enter in the living room at the ground floor which has a separate toilet. Then on the first floor there is a bedroom with double bed and French balcony as well as a bathroom with walk-in shower and basin. And on the top floor there is an open kitchen and terrace with mini lounge, bbq and possibility to hang a hammock so you can enjoy your rosé in the Mediterranean sun.
Marseillan is situated between Cap d’Agde and Séte -worth a visit- which are connected by the long sandy beaches of the Mediterranean. It is one of the three fisherman villages along the Etang de Thau. And the nearest cities are Pézenas, Béziers, and Montpellier, which are all lovely places to visit. The area is known for its Mediterranean lifestyle, seafood, wines (Picpoul wines are only made here), (night)markets, brocante, authentic villages with many summer festivities and of course the beautiful beaches. The nearest train stations are: Agde (15min) and Sète (30min). And the nearest airports are: Béziers (25min), Montpellier (1h) and Carcasonne (1h30).
There are plenty of water activities to enjoy: sailing, surfing, supping, canoeing, wake boarding, boating, swimming or simply walking along the Etang or the Mediterranean Sea. If you enjoy sailing, then our sailing boat is available for you to use, or we can sail it for you along the oyster beds of the Etang de Thau. When you prefer to stay on the shore, you can grab our vintage folding bicycles and explore Marseillan by bike. Or you can rent a 'real' bike and cycle around the Etang (60km). If you would like to explore the wider area there are many beautiful hikes and bike tours to enjoy.
