Welcome AT Terre & Mer
Bienvenue!
We are Aukje and Ted: AT Terre&Mer, two passionate Dutch individuals enamored with the South of France. After living and working in the Hérault department for a number of years, we sought to purchase a property that reflected our passions. We fell in love with Bergerie Les Fons (La Terre), a magical place that we adapted to our own style. Ted, drawn to the sea, led us acquire Casa Thau (La Mer), a former fisherman’s house located in a typical village of Languedoc, near the Etang de Thau. Similarly, we tailored this house to our taste. We offer these two properties for rent, inviting you to discover these little slices of paradise. Feel free to get in touch.

Why we love the Languedoc
From terre to mer, from mountains to the sea, the Languedoc area has all you need for a wonderful holiday in the South of France :
Mountains and canyons
Look around you and you will see mountains. Whether the Caroux in the heart of the Natural Regional Park of the Haut-Languedoc, The Black Mountains, the Pyrenees, the Pic St Loup or the ancient volcanos Agde and Sète. And for an adventurous hike or climbing: Gorge D’Heric, Gorge De Colombieres, Cirque de Navacelles and many more.
Beaches and sea
A relaxing day at the beach? Between Sète and Vendres Plage you will find many nice beaches to settle down with your parasol and picnic or at a beach bar if you prefer. Plunge into the Mediterranean or in the Orb river, because also along the Orb you will find many nice (hidden) pebble beaches.
Wine and vinyards
The Languedoc is famous for its wines and many vinyards. Picpoul, grenache, mourvedre, carignan, syrah and so on. You will find fine wines made from the typical Mediterranean grapes. There are large wine domaines and small producers and everywhere you can stop to do a tour and try their wines. There are several wine routes that you can do by car or bike.
Cities with great history
There are beautiful cities to visit: Montpelier if you like shopping and museums, Sète the island of artists and fishermen, Béziers with its beautiful cathedral and its 9 locks of Fontseranes, Pézenas with handcrafted boutiques or a bit further away the castle of Carcasonne.
Sunny climate
At least 300 days of sunshine and a Mediterranean climate is what you can expect. Long hot summers, early springs, late falls and soft winters. Which makes the Languedoc-Roussillon region a four seasons destination.
Great heritage
Abbeys, churches, cathedrals, (cathar) castles, bridges, medieval villages and cities, the region has a rich history and many cultural heritages to visit. We can’t name them all, but just a few: Saint-Guilhem-le-Désert, abbey de Valmagne, Cathédral Maguelone, Cité de Minerve.
Thousand hicking trails
On foot or by bike there are a thousand trails to discover the region. Whether an adventurous hike through the mountains or a town walk, whether off road by mountain bike or (a stage of) the Tour the France on your racing bike. The choice is limitless.
French cuisine
France is famous for its cuisine and the Mediterranean one particularly is delicious (and healthy). You will find restaurants everywhere. For the best fresh products visit one of the many colorful markets where local producers sell their products.
Lakes and rivers
From mountain lakes, Lake Salagou where you can hike or cycle, to salt lakes like the Etang de Thau with seahorses and flamingos. From natural rivers, like the Orb and the Hérault where you can canoe or fish to 17th century man-made Canal the Midi that has beautiful biking and hiking trails along its shore.
